Join Frolickers Adventures
We’re putting together free, slightly unexpected things to do with other people.
Learn something. Make something. Play something. Teach something — just not always in the usual way. We’re taking familiar skills somewhere unfamiliar.
Tell us a little about yourself and we’ll invite you when something sounds like your kind of thing.
Familiar things, somewhere unexpected
A dance lesson on Bond Street. A group drawing in a place worth looking at. Chessboards brought to a particular corner of the city and an invitation to come and play.
Those are the kinds of ideas we’re putting together. The activity can be familiar; the setting, the people or the way we approach it can make it feel completely different.
Some Adventures might use something you already know. Others might introduce you to something you have never tried. There is room for music, making, food, games, exploring and ideas that sound slightly ridiculous until you find yourself enjoying them.
We want to leave room for the pleasure of doing something simply because it sounds fun. No qualification required at the end. No need to turn it into a serious hobby. You are allowed to make a terrible drawing and have an excellent afternoon.
We organise. You come along.
You should not need to coordinate six friends, research a venue and sign up for eight weeks just to try something once.
We’ll put the activity together, organise the place and invite people who might enjoy it. When an invitation fits, you can decide whether to join. We’ll tell you what to expect and what, if anything, you need to bring.
Then you grab the bits you need and go.
The idea is to make joining easy, with little preparation and no commitment to become a regular. Come to one Adventure or keep coming back. You do not need to arrive with a friend or already know how to do the activity, unless that particular invitation calls for a specific skill.
More life outside work
We want to make a practical contribution to addressing the loneliness crisis, especially in cities where being surrounded by people does not necessarily mean feeling connected to anyone.
Work can bring good people into your life. We also want more opportunities for relationships that do not depend on sharing an employer. More occasions to meet outside professional roles, spend time together and discover something about each other through what we do.
As more of life takes place through screens, algorithms and AI, we care about making space for the things that require us to actually be there: showing somebody a skill, making something together, sharing a joke, remembering an afternoon.
An activity gives that encounter somewhere to begin. Frolickers Adventures asks very little socially: there is something to do, conversation can happen around it and nobody has to perform being interesting every second.
If a friendship grows, brilliant. If you learn something, laugh and spend time with people you would otherwise never have met, the experience has already been worthwhile.
Sometimes a good afternoon is enough.
Frolickers Teach Frolickers
The people who join should help shape what happens next.
Somebody can teach photography. Somebody makes dumplings, repairs clothes, plays an instrument or knows an extraordinary amount about one small subject. Someone else would love to learn.
That is the idea behind Frolickers Teach Frolickers. The person sharing a skill at one Adventure can be the complete beginner at the next. Your job tells us only part of what you might bring.
The signup questions help us find those connections. What you know, what you enjoy and what you would like to try can all become starting points for an invitation. Perhaps the next Adventure begins with something you mention. Perhaps somebody you meet introduces us to a place, a person or an idea we had never considered.
We want the community to have a hand in what it becomes. Sharing knowledge and showing up for each other are part of that.
Come because it sounds good
You do not need to own Frolickers clothes or buy anything to take part. There is no expectation to promote us or turn your afternoon into content. The experience should be worth having in its own right.
If something we make together inspires a future story, image or object, any use of somebody’s work will be discussed and agreed with them, including credit and compensation where appropriate.
You can share a skill, try something unfamiliar or simply turn up and enjoy it. Curiosity is enough of a starting point.
Tell us a little about yourself. We’ll invite you when something sounds like your kind of thing.
