Lorenzo

Florence • Tan cotton twill

I’m a commercial lawyer. If you tell me something is ‘just a formality’, we’re probably going to be there a while. Outside work I prefer things I can actually finish with my hands. Once a month I sit at a goldsmith’s bench and make something small, slightly crooked and much harder than it looks. I haven’t tried to negotiate with the instructor yet. On Saturdays I take an old Moto Guzzi into the hills, supposedly without a plan, although I usually know where we’re having lunch. I’ll eat lampredotto standing up and spend two hours over Sunday lunch. Forty minutes in a queue for a sandwich, though, apparently requires a patience I don’t possess.

Garment Details

An oversized, fully reversible bomber with a blouson silhouette, raised collar, elasticated cuffs and fitted hem.

Wind-resistant, shower-resistant cotton twill on one side; medium-wale cotton corduroy on the reverse.

Three zipped pockets per side — two side, one chest — remain functional whichever way it’s worn.

Design Notes

The jacket began with a slightly unreasonable question: if this were the only jacket you owned, what would it need to get right?

Seven samples later, the result is deliberately simple. Both faces are designed to function as the outside, never as an outer and a lining. The collar sits high enough to shelter your chin while leaving room for a scarf. The cuffs turn back to adjust the sleeve length. Zipped pockets become concealed storage when the jacket is reversed.

We gave the same attention to things nobody else sees. The pocket lining is exceptionally soft Italian viscose simply because your hands spend time there. Luxury usually concentrates on what other people notice. We were also interested in what the wearer notices.

We weren't trying to give you reasons to own four jackets. We were trying to make one enough.

Responsibility

We produce in small, considered runs rather than building volume for its own sake.

Reversibility is part of the same approach: designing more genuine use into one garment instead of multiplying products for every variation.

We avoid unnecessary synthetic additions and favour single-fibre materials where they make sense, with longevity considered both physically and aesthetically.
